Now that you are settled in to your new 5thwheel it is time you become informed about membership camping. Membership camping requires a sizeable fee up front however can greatly reduce cost over the long run. We are Elite Members in Thousand Trails which allows us to also be members of RPI and ROD. As elite members of Thousand Trails preserves we can stay 3 weeks at one park and move to one of the 60 plus parks scattered across the United States. Since Thousand Trails is in many of the places we spend a lot of time we saved enough in the first year to cover the cost of membership. Technically we could live in Thousand Trials for about $552.00 dollars a year. This is our dues payment. Break this down by the number of nights one might stay and you can see this is very inexpensive. But the catch is one must use it. Thousand Trails for the most part are large 30 to 900 acre resorts with on site lakes and rivers, bays and ocean. RPI and its better counterpart Coast to Coast and AOR are membership that allows for 10.00 dollar a night camping for the entire length of the stay. RPI works well to cover gaps in thousand trails. ROD is similar and allows for free or discounted camping, but we don’t find we use ROD. That number Amanda sent you two a while back for free camping is for our sales guy at thousand trails. He a nice guy who will not overcharge you like some of the other sales people. To give you an idea of our yearly camping fees at pretty nice RV resorts. We will average about a $2000.00 yearly for our camping fees. This includes electric, water, sewer, trash. We spend most of the winter at the Orlando Thousand Trails so feel free to drop by if your near and if you need the number to our sales guy just email norcar303@gmail.com

Crocs going out for more tissue

All year long I have been in fine health and then for the first vacation from classes it hits me… A COLD!!! Only I would stay healthy throughout the school year to become sick for Thanksgiving Break. So for the next few days my warm fuzzy Chocolate Mammoths and I will be cuddled up with tissue and cough drops. Which reminds me, I am going to need more tissue… guess me and the Mammoths will have to head to the store first to pick up a ton of tissue.

A Totally Tomorrowland Christmas

Part of the new stage show at Disney World's Magic Kingdom that is performed only during Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party. It is a replacement for the very popular Mickey's Twas the Night Before Christmas. It is a cute show in which Stitch, Buzz Lightyear and Mike Wazowski sing and dance about Christmas.

And for those of us who are already counting down to Christmas here is a little Christmas literary joy...

"Christmas was close at hand, in all his bluff and hearty honesty; it was the season of hospitality, merriment, and open-heartedness; the old year was preparing, like an ancient philosopher, to call his friends around him, and amidst the sound of feasting and revelry to pass gently and calmly away." - Charles Dickens The Pickwick Papers

Copywriting Samples

Often times a copywriter is an anonymous writer whose words will flow through print advertisements or websites and encourage the reader to buy, try or go to whatever their prose invokes. I am one of those anonymous folks and you may have run into some of writing in various travel related areas. From Walt Disney World ride and attraction descriptions to places to see while visiting popular cities I have written several thousand pieces of prose that are out there somewhere on the internet. Here are just a few samples:

For a Disney World Ticket Reseller Website:

Kilimanjaro Safaris
Are you ready for a two week Safari into the African wilderness? If you are not ready to venture all the way to Africa to have close encounters with wildlife and poachers, than you are in luck because Disney’s Kilimanjaro Safaris in Animal Kingdom are the next best thing.
A large group of adventurers board an open sided safari vehicle and head out to the Harambe Wildlife Reserve. This Mild but Wild ride is a great opportunity for photographers of all levels to snap shots of animals such as lions, elephants, hippos and more.

But if you think you are only going to take a leisurely drive through the animal reserve you are wrong. Everyone faces gunshots from poachers and bridges ready to collapse into crocodile infested waters. All members of your family will enjoy their experience on the Kilimanjaro Safaris at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Park.

Pirates of the Caribbean
Embark on a journey down a calm river and get a sneak peek into the lives of Jack Sparrow and his gang when you ride Disney’s Pirates of the Caribbean in the Magic Kingdom’s Adventureland. You enter a fortress that houses the underground cavern in which you will meet Jack Sparrow and other characters from the infamous Pirates of the Caribbean movies. When your boat begins to head down river you quickly become aware that you are in a whole different world, the world of Pirates.

Although the ride was recently updated to include the popular characters from the movies such as Jack Sparrow, and Captain Barbossa, it still holds its power over the rider with its attention to detail and action scenes.

This ride is not to be missed! It is categorized by Disney as a Mild But Wild Thrill so it is fun for the whole family. Make sure to bring your PAL Mickey along because he has some secrets to share with you while you journey through the adventures of the Pirates of the Caribbean.

For a Rental Car Site:
In the mood for the paranormal? Saint Augustine is home to many hauntings. If you would like to find out the history of the famous ghosts who are said to inhabit the Saint Augustine area then you will want to take the 90 minute Ghost Tour of Saint Augustine. Your tour guide will be dressed in costumes to fit the time period that they are describing for you. It is a walking tour that will introduce you to the stories behind the ghosts.

Cyborgs and Writing

Much like Shelly, I found that chapter 8 was the most interesting read of the three chapters, particularly the end of the chapter which talks about writing as a tool and the differences between the way women of color (or women in general) and cyborgs use the tool. I liked Haraway’s use of La Malinche in this chapter and how she is the “origin myth” that we should ground ourselves around instead of the “original origin myth” because it means that knowledge is not a power that cannot be handled by the user but instead it is a knowledge that gives power to the user. However, it seems that even La Malinche’s power forces someone else to be the “other,” which leads to someone else being betrayed. I thought that when she talked more about the Cyborg metaphors and writing this problem of displacing domination. It seems that no, it will not be the utopia described by Piercy in Woman on the Edge of Time (no genders exist therefore no one is held above the other) but yet another shift in who dominates the other…

“Cyborg imagery can suggest a way out of the maze of dualisms in which we have explained our bodies and our tools to ourselves […] It means both building and destroying machines, identities, categories, relationships, space stories.” (181)

So in the above, we are freed from the original origin myth because we can control the technology by both constructing and deconstructing. I completely agree with this idea. Cyborg imagery is a tool for understanding the dualisms that surround us but to me it seems the same hierarchical structures she fights against as a feminist, us over the machine. The only way to remedy this dilemma is to live in Anzaldua’s borderlands (the lines in between, where ideas and identities blur)…

“High-tech culture challenges these dualisms in intriguing ways. It is not clear who makes and who is made in the relation between human and machine. It is not clear what is mind and what body in machines that resolve into coding practices. (177)”

My only question to all of this is; are we truly able to take up residence in the borderlands. I mean even La Malinche could not live in between the Native Americans and the Spanish for an extended period of time, she eventually had to choose a side and by doing so betrayed the other. I think that language and technology help us deconstruction identity but then we put it back together in hybrid form. I guess I am wondering how truly different is that hybrid form if we were fractured to begin with.
