Photohunters: Hanging

bat

This giant bat was found in Disney's Animal Kingdom "Maharajah Jungle Trek." There were tons of the Giant Bats. Some very large and some just sort of large. This fellow was quite big and very close. I was taking pictures of some of his buddies further out and he dropped right in front of me to see what I was doing. He stayed very close for what seemed a long time just watching me. It was absolutely amazing!

Edited July 28, 2008 to add... Thanks so much to all those who had nice things to say about my bat. Someone asked about the stats on the photo. Those can be found here. He was directly above me no more than two feet from the top of my head.

A neat take on the theme. I have seen the fruit bats in Oz but that looks to be bigger

Eeek! It would have made me very nervous to be that close to a bat, especially one that large. LOL!!

Thanks for visiting me today! Hope you come back to enter my giveaway starting Sunday.

Hahah bats are so under rated, they are such sweet creatures - Nice shot, what were the stats on that? Was he still enough to not use a tripod?

If you like animal photography check out our mascot Zizou the cat in action, its such a chance shot but its so funny.
