This Week In Books...

In preparation for the Spring 2006 semester I have quite a reading list. I have been told that in my Modern Novel class in the Spring I will average about 400-800 pages a week of reading. And then there is my other class (no amount has been specified yet but I suspect it will not be a class of light reading). Now I truly do not mind reading around 1000 pages a week but I better get some practice reading under my belt. This week I hope to have read the following novels: Mrs. Dalloway Mrs. Dalloway This book is my for fun reading for the month of January so it really does not need to be finished this week. This is the January Selection for Knit the Classics. My project for this book is still undecided but I am thinking it will be something that includes flowers. Lord Jim Lord Jim This novel is one of the novels I need to read before class starts on January 17. I need to focus on time, narrative strategy, and the limits of language in this novel. Bleak House Bleak House And this is the last book I will try to read this week. This is also a novel I need to read before classes and I also need to focus on time, narrative strategy, and the limits of language in this novel.

So that is only about 1600 pages to read this before next Monday! If I can finish all three this week I will be really impressed and you can bet I will be bragging about it all next week on my blog!

Well I am off to read...

Up Next week:

1)Clarissa, or the History of a Young Lady

2)The Life and Opinions of Tristram Shandy, Gentleman (Penguin Classics Series)

3)Ezra Pound: The Cantos

4)Waiting for Godot

I've read Clarissa and Tristam Shandy but none of the others. Clarissa is a bit tedious after awhile. Shandy is pretty funny if you take the time to think about what you are reading! :)

I don't envy you the workload!

I read Lord Jim not too long ago! I'm not sure what made me pick it up, but I really enjoyed it.

Wow, that is some list. Fun but challenging.
