Pillowghan Square #3

This is square #3 for my first pillowghan. I am not too sure what the color is called. It feels like Red Heart and it is sort of a wine color with Red Heart white on US H hook.

Pillowghan Square #2

For this square I used some Red Heart Water Colors with size US H hook. Too much border on this one but I like it and I am sure it will stretch out when it is out together with the others.

Yet more new neighbors...

Boy the neigborhood is getting crowed here are some of the newbies we have seen lately, not too sure of their names... These guys are noisy and they love to wrestle around in the trees... They also like to throw pine cones at Maverick's head in order to get him to chase them up the tree. Maverick seems to get what they are after so he most of the time ignores them. This guy is a little shy and quiet. He likes to just hang out..

Square one and lots of paper...

First off thanks to all of you who emailed me with good vibes for the first week of school. Now that I been the first week I have to saw WHOA I have alot of work ahead of me. A couple of posts ago I was shocked at how much I spent on books well little did I know I would drop a $100 on copies!!! That is a lot of darn paper!!! Now on to square one for my pillowghan... It is Red Heart pink and Red Heart White on US H. You know I really love single crochet so I think I might play with color and keep this blanket all in single crochet. I have square two of 28 done but have yet to take a picture. Tomorrow I have to start my love affair with the copier and then with all that paper...

CALs Update....

Crochet the Classics: September is just around the corner (can you believe how fast time flies???) and we will be reading The Remains of the Day. Since the main character is a butler I decided I would make houseware items such as potholders, disclothes, dusting rags and the like. I am excited to get started in September. ( I must confess I have already picked up the book and started reading, good book so far :)). Feet Need Socks: I have decided which pattern I am going to use for my first pair of socks! I will be using the crochet socks pattern. I wanted to use a purple I have in my stash but I do plan on making it to Walmart soon to buy yarn for my Harry Potter scarf and my 63 squares blanket so if something catches my eye the color and yarn may change. I also like the slipper sock pattern. Pillowghan CAL: I have started on my 12 inch squares for my pillowghan. I am using different shades of pink and light reds. So far I am in the middle of my first square. Nothing too fancy really just practicing my stitches. Pictures soon... Cold Hands Warm Hearts: starting my mittens, they are light blue and I am using the lion brand pattern but I am not using Homespun (it drives me nuts!). Pictures this week! Just Knitting and Crocheting: I am thinking of creating something to hold my water at the rec center.... 63 squares: Just joined this one this week! Got the book at walmart last week and I am hoping to get back to walmart soon to pick up the yarn. It is a great blanket!!

Harry Potter KAL and other KALs...

I joined the newest Harry Potter KAL Another Weasley Now I love the Harry Potter movies but I have never read the books. I know it seems strange because I love to read but I really would rather wait and see the latest movie then pick up the book, not sure why but it just seems more natural to me to wait for the movie. Introducing Marble

She is in the peep pattern style but she it a little bear like with her cute little round ears. She is made with Crochet hook US F, Red Heart Classic color Water Colors. She is 6 inches tall including the ears. She was made for the Amigurumi CAL

Next week...

Next week is the big week! School officially starts on Tuesday for me. I meet all the new MA canidates this Tuesday and it seems like a good group of people, I look forward to yacking with them... So besides officially starting my MA I will be focusing on the following projects... 1. I am going to try and finish a gift poncho for a friend 2. Crochet a pair of mittens for the Cold Hands Warm Hearts CAL. 3. Finish Wives and Daughters for Knit the Classics I am also putting together a little package for Stephanie.

Gift and New Neighbors...

Yesterday was a long day. We spent all day in the city and we did so much on campus. Rec center passes, books and orientation oh my. I forgot how expensive textbooks are, yesterday I spent $330 for 9 books for two classes, holy cow! Anyway after a long hot day in the city I came home and found this is my box... Stephanie my talented admin from Knit the Classics sent me and Maverick these great things! What a sweetheart! Thanks so much again Stephanie. Maverick love the little tough toy. He snuggles it like a teddy bear. I took some pictures of him snuggling it but they came out so dark so I need to get more. Yesterday we also met a new neighbor we have. His name is Sampson... When I first saw him walking towards us I thought he was a polar bear! He is huge 5 times the size of Maverick. He is a nice but not too social. I gave him some treats because I figured it is a good thing to have a big boy like him hanging around to scare off any unwanted guests.

WTW Set #4

Here is set number four for Warm the World. Not quite sure what type of yarn it is there were not labels on these two colors. Sort of feels like Caron Simply Soft. It is knitted on US 7s.

CAL/KAL updates...

It is not Tuesday Knit-along/ Crochet-along day but tomorrow I will be in Boulder all day for Graduate Orientation! Next week school starts can you believe it! Where did the summer go... Anyhow here is my CAL/KAL update for this week... Crochet the Classics; Knit the Classics: Sadly I have not picked up Wives and Daughters or the needles for Crochet the Classics or Knit the classics. I have however received word that The Remains of Day is waiting for me at the library so I will get that for September. This week I plan on finishing up Wives and Daughters. Just Knitting and Crocheting : So far I have made three hat and scarf sets for WTW (one crochet and two knit). I currently have scarf number four done and I am working on hat four. Amigurumi CAL: I made this guy and I want to make another little something but I am not sure yet. cold hands warm hearts I still have cold hands. Maybe this week I have this great purple that would make nice mittens. Pillowghan CAL: This is a new CAL I joined. What you do is you make a bunch of 12 inch squares (any you choose, great practice for me) and then you sew them all together once it is done the blanket will fold up to make a great pillow. Great idea cannot wait to get started on this one, most likely next month will be my start date. Feet Need Socks: SOCKS! Yep I am going to give the a try again this time with crochet!

Rainy Weekend

What's a pup to do on a rainy weekend??? Well our pup decided to workout... After his tough workout he decided to snuggle up on the couch with daddy's blanket... Happy Sunday all....

Grinchy....

Although it is August my husband likes to start getting Christmas movies and music together in a collection so we can let they play November and December. One of the movies he is putting into his collection is the new Grinch movie with Jim Carrey. In the spirit of the moment I made this... I plan on making him a little Christmas hat and attaching a hook to the back of his head so he can hang on the tree. He is single crochet in round. Grinch head was made for the Amigurumi Along

WTW Set #3

Here is the 3rd hat and scarf set for Warm the World: It is single crochet. The yarn is Caron Simply Soft in a color called Russian Red. I still need to tuck in the ends but other then that this set is ready to go. Here it is upclose.... Isn't single crochet pretty! This set is also made for the following CALs: Just Crocheting and Knitting THEME: Back to School Baby and Kids Charity CAL Here is the yarn for Set #4 for WTW: This set will be knitted.

This is an intersting one here we go... TEN YEARS AGO I was seventeen and getting ready to apply to colleges for a BA in psychology. I really thought I wanted to be a psychologist. FIVE YEARS AGO I graduated with my BA and meet my husband. We started our travel adventures together. ONE YEAR AGO We were living in the Thousand Trails resort system in our fifth wheel. Fulltiming was a blast... YESTERDAY It rained all day, we had to turn on the heat and I crocheted a scarf for Warm the World. TODAY It is supposed to rain all day. I have plans to curl up with my crochet (a hat to match the scarf I am working on for Warm the World) and read this book I found at my local library called "The Book Club." TOMORROW Not sure yet, I think we might head to the city to do some back to school shopping, I feel like such a kid, shopping for back school :). This was a fun tag thanks to Suzi for passing it on to me. Since I have the hardest time tagging people I will leave it up to anyone you reads my blog and thinks it would be fun to play with.

Set 2 for WTW

Here is hat and scarf set #2 for Warm the World It is garter stitch in Caron Simply Soft Navy and some sort of Cream color. Next up for WTW: is a crocheted set in Caron Simply Soft a color called Russian Red. Goal for August: To have at least 4 hat and scarf sets done.

Firsts...

So the last couple of days have consisted of firsts...

Sunday Maverick went to his first dog park to play. We took him to the dog park in Estes and he had a blast. They have this great park with a little lake that the dogs can go and jump in. Maverick was a little too shy so my husband walked in with him and he walked around in it while trying not to step in the mud, it was so funny. He also ran around the park while trying to herd the other dogs. He really seemed to have a blast. Look at that face...

I also got my first box of yarn for Warm the World. Woo Hoo that is alot of yarn...

I plan on making hats and scraves in kids sizes and maybe a baby blanket. Here is my first Warm the World contribution... It is made out of the Red Heart version of Homespun. It is the Hubby Hat and a simple scarf with broken rib on the bottoms of each end and garter in between.

And this ...Was not made in the last couple of days but it is my first crochet project. It is supposed to be a potholder.

Currently I am working on another hat and scraf set for WTW and I am working on getting links for Crochet the Classics. Plus I am getting ready for classes to start in just 22 days!!!

Still no sign of the troublesome bear!
